Franklin presented 2 important aspects that are key to understanding world-overcoming faith:
- Gospel Indicatives – meaning what God has already done for us in Christ’s life, death, resurrection, and ascension. The Gospel ‘Indicatives’ come to those who are born of God in God’s total GPS (God’s Package of Salvation), only in union with Christ.
- Gospel Imperatives – This is how world-overcoming faith is expressed. As result of our union with Christ, our faith is made practical in our serving Him as salt and light to the world.
How is our faith made practical? Franklin puts it this way:
“Faith of God takes hold of God’s promises in His Word, and by active meditation and obedience, makes it tangible in our lives.”
In closing, Franklin took us on a tour of world-conquering faith demonstrated in the examples of faithful men and women in Hebrews 11:33-39. He ended by challenging the congregation to ask: How are we- born of God – demonstrating our world overcoming faith in practical ways today?
